Tesla vs a hybrid
the Tesla wins in 50 of 51 states
50 of 51. That's how many states make a 2026 Model 3 Standard RWD (24.3 kWh per 100 mi, EPA) cheaper to fuel than a 51 MPG Camry Hybrid at home electricity and local gas prices. The hybrid wins in Hawaii, where electricity is pricey enough to erase the gap. A 30 MPG gas car makes any EV look good. The best hybrid is the honest test.

EIA has no weekly gas series for most states, so those use their region's average, and each state page says which. Hawaii and Alaska use the West Coast (less California) average, so check your local pump price before you trust the hybrid's win there.
Fuel is only one line. Insurance, payments and maintenance usually matter more, and the calculator has fields for all three.
